France Sends Aid To Philippine Typhoon Victims
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Paris, France (AHN) - The French government announced on Thursday it is sending initial emergency aid to typhoon victims in the Philippines in the amount of $51,000 to help meet the immediate needs of thousands of families ravaged by typhoon "Milenyo" (international codename: Xangsane) last week. French Foreign Ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei said the French government made the offer in response to the appeal issued by the Philippine National Red Cross for aid. Milenyo, one of the strongest typhoons to hit Metro Manila in decades, ravaged the country a week ago, killing at least 207 people, displacing nearly two million people and causing widespread damage.
