Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A Palestinian man was shot and killed during a raid by Israeli police Wednesday morning aimed at rounding up illegal laborers in the Tel Aviv area. Reports indicated that the man attacked police as they searched the flea market in the seaside town of Jaffa, and attempted to snatch an officer's gun. During the ensuing struggle, the gun went off and fatally wounded the Palestinian. Thousands of Palestinians without valid work permits regularly enter Israel in search of employment. In recent years, police have cracked down on the practice, fearing that terrorists will use the large numbers of laborers as cover to infiltrate Israel. In related news, Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at vehicles transporting Palestinian gunmen in central Gaza Tuesday. The five occupants of the cars were all reportedly wounded in the strike. Later in the day, security forces captured a Palestinian man in the Israeli town of Elad as he prepared to perpetrate an attack against local residents. Overnight, Israeli forces arrested nine terror suspects during raids in the West Bank.
