Nji Che - All Headline News African Correspondent Caracas, Venezuela (AHN) - A strong 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Venezuela and the island of Trinidad on Friday. There were no immediate reports on damage or injuries. The quake also affected the Latin American country's oil installations, Gustavo Malave, head of Venezuela's seismological institute said. The institute traced the epicenter of the quake back to the Caribbean island of Trinidad, some few miles off the coast of Venezuela. The U.S. Geological Survey's earthquake monitoring center said the quake hit at 9:08 a.m. at a depth of 38.9 miles. The magnitude was high enough cause considerable damage to poorly built structures.
