Musharraf Denies Supporting Al-Queda
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Staff Writer A report issued by a British Ministry of Defense think tank "The Defence Academy" allegedly claims that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's intelligence services supported the al-Queda and the Taliban. While on his visit with Tony Blair, the Pakistani General accepted reassurance from the British Prime Minister that the Defense Academy report did not represent government policy. Musharraf returned the gesture by assuring his end of the bargain in monitoring the Taliban and the crossover activity into Afghanistan. Earlier he denounced allegations that statements made in the Defense Academy report was made by people who are unaware of "ground realities". He told BBC's "Newsnight," which had gotten hold of the documents: "These aspersions against ISI [Inter Services Intelligence] are by vested interests ... I don't accept them at all. I reject them fully."
