Israeli Attack Kills Two In Gaza
Nji Che - All Headline News African Correspondent Gaza, West Bank (AHN) - Palestinian security services and witnesses say an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip killed two teenage brothers on Friday. But the Jewish army said the attack targeted two men suspected of firing rockets into Israel, and declined to give further details about the attack. While the Israeli military said the two were struck while collecting a rocket launcher that was used last week to fire rockets from northern Gaza into Israel, Palestinian witnesses said the two boys, aged 16 and 18, were riding on bicycles and stopped to observe the launcher before they were hit. Palestinian sources say about 220 people have been killed in the offensive by Israeli forces since the end of June 2006, and half of the victims are civilians. Israeli sources say the attacks are designed to prevent militants from firing rockets into Israel. Islamic Jihad and Hamas militants are accused of launching rocket attacks against Israel.
