Archaeologist Claims Jerusalem Temple Treasures Have Returned Home

Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem (AHN) - A British archaeologist says he has conclusive evidence that the treasures of the ancient Jewish Temple in Jerusalem are in fact hidden in the Holy Land, and not buried deep in Vatican vaults as previously assumed. Dr. Sean Kingsley told The London Times that he is "the first person to prove that the Temple treasures no longer languish in Rome." Relying on writings from the first century AD, Kingsley has searched for years for proof that the splendor of King Herod's Temple, destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, was removed from Rome and returned to the biblical Land of Israel in the fifth century AD. He claims to have recently found that proof in the form of silver trumpets, golden candlesticks and other jewelry in what is today the Palestinian-controlled territories. Kingsley notes that "the Temple treasure remains a deadly political tool in the volatile Arab-Israeli conflict centered on the Temple Mount," and that its "final hiding place...deep in Hamas territory will rock world religions." During 2000 peace talks at Camp David, former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat denied that a Jewish Temple had ever stood in Jerusalem, in the area now occupied by Islam's Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque.
