Female Soldier Wounded In Palestinian Rocket Attack

Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Two rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists slammed into crowded downtown Sderot in Israel's southern Negev region Monday morning, moderately wounding a female soldier. The victim was rushed to Barzilai Hospital in the nearby coastal city of Ashkelon. She was listed in moderate condition after suffering shrapnel wounds to her body. Several other people were treated for anxiety following the attack. The rockets also disrupted the electrical supply to parts of the hard-hit town. A third rocket fired later in the day landed just south of Sderot. The Isalmic Jihad terrorist organization claimed credit for the attacks, describing them as a reaction to "the continuation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people." A spokesman for Hamas, the faction that currently dominates the Palestinian Authority government, told Palestinian media that his group will again take part in the rocket attacks in the very near future. Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal responded to the morning bombardment with harsh criticism for the government, and for Defense Minister Amir Peretz, himself a Sderot resident, in particular.
