Court-Martial Ensues In Marine Murder Case
Megan Shannon - All Headline News Staff Writer (AHN) - Three marines will face courts-martial after allegedly killing an Iraqi man and then attempting to make it look like he was trying to kill them. Hashim Ibrahim Awad, 52, was killed in April. The men are charged with taking Awad from his home and fatally shooting him. Then they allegedly planted an AK-47 and a shovel near his body. All three men have been charged with murder and wrongfully seizing a man and holding him against his will. In addition, Pfc. John Jodka faces charges of assault, conspiracy and housebreaking. Cpl. Marshall L. Magincalda faced conspiracy, making a false statement, housebreaking, and larceny charges. Lance Cpl. Jerry E. Shumate has been charged with larceny and conspiracy. All three men are being held at Camp Pendleton, California until trial. The date for trial have yet to be released.
