Israel Readies For Non-Conventional Attack
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem(AHN) - Following the summer's Lebanon war, Israel's Home Front Command is shifting its focus to preparing for an expected future non-conventional attack by the nation's regional enemies. An Israeli air force officer told The Jerusalem Post Monday that the conflict with Hezbollah had demonstrated that "the other side is investing all of its resources in missiles. We therefore need to provide answers to deal with this threat offensively but also defensively, once the missiles are already launched." Senior Home Front Command officials warn that the threat already includes chemical and biological weapons, which nations like Iran and Syria are expected to use if they feel the need to strike Israel. With that in mind, HFC has been pouring resources into developing mobile air-purification containers that can be quickly deployed to clean the air in areas struck by such weapons, according to the Post. Iran's recently developed Shihab-3 ballistic missile is capable of reaching every part of Israel, and can carry a payload of up to 1,500 pounds.
