Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Hat Yai, Thailand (AHN) - Hundreds of tourists have postponed holiday plans in southern Thailand due to a string of bomb blasts that have killed four people and wounded many in a tourist area. Among those killed were three Thais and a Canadian national. Of the 72 wounded, 14 other foreigners that included six Malaysians, three Singaporeans, three Britons, an Indian and an American. "Malaysian and Singapore tourists, who are majority of our customers, have cancelled their reservations, citing the bomb scares," said a receptionist of Hat Yai's Novotel Central Hotel. She adds, "Before this, we were fully booked every weekend." Thai police have not made arrests connected to violence in the tourist area of Hat Yai. One senior officer told AFP that it will take awhile to investigate the six bombs. The escalating Islamic insurgency in the province has also recently resulted in school buildings and a daycare center being set ablaze and vehicles destroyed. "These were efforts by a group of people who want to see the public in chaos," police Major General Yongyuth Charoenvanit told AFP.
