Al-Qaeda Posts Promise Of Jihad Until West Defeated
Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AHN) - In a statement posted on the Internet, the Iraq Al-Qaeda said it will engage in jihad (holy war) 'til the West is won over. It was made in response to the statements made by Pope Benedict XVI connecting Islam with violence. "We say to the servant of the cross (the pope): wait for defeat... We say to infidels and tyrants: wait for what will afflict you. We continue our jihad. We will not stop until the banner of unicity flies throughout the world," said the statement said by the Mujahedeen consultative council. The statement adds, "We will smash the cross... (you will have no choice but) Islam or death." Other groups in Iraq, Jaish al-Mujahedeen (the Mujahedeen's Army) and Asaeb al-Iraq al-Jihadiya (League of Jihadists in Iraq), have also released their response over the Internet warning the Vatican with reprisal.
