Suicide Bomber Kills At Least 4 Canadians In Afghanistan
Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter (AHN) - At least four Canadians were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a NATO patrol in Afghanistan. Canada's military says a number of civilians were injured when the bomber rode a bicycle carrying explosives into a crowd of troops and children in Kandahar. Brig. Gen. David Fraser, Commander of Canada's NATO forces in southern Afghanistan, said other soldiers had been wounded in the suicide attack. He said, "The soldiers were conducting a patrol in the area to provide security in supporting the Afghan security forces." Since Canada first sent troops to Afghanistan four years ago, 36 of its soldiers have been killed. Most of them died this year. The attack came a day after NATO said it had expelled the Taliban from the Panjwayi district, where the blast occurred. Also on Monday, two policemen were killed by a bomb in the capital of Kabul. Police said the blast caused civilian casualties.
