EU Lawmakers Cancel Trip To Lebanon
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A delegation of European Union parliamentarians planning to visit and evaluate war damage in both Israel and Lebanon canceled their trip at the last minute after Beirut refused to allow an Israeli to join the group while in Lebanon. The lawmakers were part of a wider Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA) delegation, which also included parliamentarians from North Africa nations. The European delegates were reportedly miffed when Lebanon rejected requests from Deputy Israeli Knesset Speaker Majalli Whbee to participate in the mission. Whbee is an Arab member of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's ruling Kadima Party. He currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the EMPA policy committee.
