Hezbollah Fighters Return To Normal Life
Joseph S. Mayton - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Cairo, Egypt (AHN) - The Shiite militant group Hezbollah that recently fought a 34-day war with Israel, seems to be returning to normal life. Many of the fighters have said they are ready to pick up arms again if Israel wants to start a new war, but at the moment they are back with their families and living normal lives. "We lost nine men, but there are 900 others ready to replace them," Ibrahim, a Hezbollah fighter, told AFP. "I fought and I am ready to do it again if Israel attacks us," he said. Following the United Nations-brokered ceasefire, Ibrahim and his fellow guerrillas returned to normal civilian life at the orders of their leader, Hassan Nasrallah. They accepted the truce, but the militant organization has not given up their weapons and they have no intention of doing so. Throughout the southern portions of Lebanon, civilians are praising the group that is political party, militia and social welfare organization all at once. "It's not just Hassan Nasrallah who protects the weapons of Hezbollah, it's the entire population of the south," Jana Alawiyeh, a woman who recently returned to Marun al-Ras, said. The village was heavily damaged during the war that ended August 14.
