Nun Shot to Death; Possible Retaliation for Pope's Islam Remarks

Somalia (AHN) - An Italian nun is dead after being shot to death by Somali gunmen Sunday. The murder happened just hours after a Muslim cleric condemned Pope Benedict XVI for his remarks on Islam.

The nun was shot in the back at S.O.S. Hospital in Mogadishu by two gunmen. The nun's bodyguard and another hospital worker were also killed.

It's not clear if the attack was linked to the Pope's comments. He apologized Sunday for quoting a Medieval text that called Islam teachings "evil and inhuman."

Two people have been arrested for the murder.
