Juan Peron's Body To Be Moved
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Buenos Aires, Argentina (AHN) - Plans to move the body of former Argentinian President Juan Peron are underway. Officials are planning to move the president's coffin to a ceremonial mass and then to a newly constructed mausoleum. The mausoleum is located about 35 miles outside of Buenos Aires. Juan Peron's family hopes that one day the body of Eva Peron will join the late president's in the mausoleum. Eva Peron currently lies in her family's plot in another Buenos Aires cemetery. She died in 1952. Juan Peron is still popular in the country 32 years after his death. The party he founded still dominates the country's politics. Surviving members of Peron's family support the move. Juan Peron's body was disinterred once before in the late '80s when authorities discovered thieves had broken into the mausoleum and cut off his hands and stolen them. He currently lies next to his mother, father, brother and niece. Both Perons' gravesites are popular tourist attractions.
