U.S. Denies Moat Around Baghdad Rumor

Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - The U.S. military is denying reports of a planned moat around the city of Baghdad. Military officials say the rumors are an exaggeration of a plan for increased checkpoints around the city.

An Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman was quoted as saying to control traffic into and out of the city, officials planned to dig a series of trenches around the Baghdad.

Military officials say the rumor is an exaggeration of a plan to use the country's natural landscape such as canals to aid in setting up the checkpoints.
