Fourth Indonesian Jailed For Bali Bombings
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Jakarta, Indonesia (AHN) - An Indonesian court on Thursday sentenced an Indonesian man to 15 years in prison for his role in the 2005 Bali bombings. The court found Anif Solchanudin, 24, guilty for his participation in planning the attacks. The court said he was "proven without doubt to have participated in acts of terrorism." During the trial, Solchanudin told the court that he had been interested in becoming a suicide bomber but he denied any knowledge about the bombings or taking part in its planning. Indonesian court has previously sentenced three other people for their involvement in the triple suicide blasts which left 20 people killed and over 100 injured. The bombings in October 2005 were the second worst terrorist attack on the island resort. Over 200 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the bombing that struck a bar and nightclub in Bali in 2002. The Indonesian government has said the regional terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) is responsible for both attacks. It is believed that JI has extensive links to the al-Qaeda terror group run by Osama bin Laden.
