Iraqi Forces Capture Insurgents And Makeshift Bomb
Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Iraqi police captured three insurgents and secured a makeshift bomb which was likely to be used in the continuing sectarian violence which has gripped the nation. The insurgents conducted a drive-by shooting of Coalition forces near a cemetary in Mosul. Security forces caught up with the shooters and surrounded their position as they fled into a mosque. According to the Pentagon, the Iraqi police searched the mosque and surrounding area, leading to the capture of the three insurgents and the discovery of a prepared makeshift bomb. Iraqi explosive ordnance disposal personnel destroyed the bomb. There were no injuries to coalition or Iraqi forces. Furthermore, in a recent Baghdad raid, Coalition forces secured three "known terrorists" "responsible for attacking Iraqi and coalition forces with makeshift bombs and for supplying and operating a bomb production factory." The Defense Department says soldiers from 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team assisted Iraqi army soldiers who will continue to target terrorist cells and death squads with intelligence-driven operations as part of Operation Together Forward.
