Japan's New Prince Named Hisahito
Shaveta Bansal - All Headline News Staff Writer Tokyo, Japan (AHN) - Japan's Imperial Household Agency announced on Tuesday, the first boy to be born into Japan's royal family in more then four decades was named Prince Hisahito on Tuesday during a private ceremony at the Tokyo hospital where his mother is recovering from a Cesarean section. Hisahito's name which means "virtuous, calm and everlasting," ends with Chinese character "hito", traditionally used for heirs to the throne. The name was chosen with the wish that the new prince has a long, prosperous life, an even temper and peace of mind, palace spokeswoman Yuka Shiina said. In the five-minute ceremony the wooden box containing the name of the baby, written on special rice paper with a brush and ink, was placed next to six day old Prince's pillow. A stylized Japanese umbrella pine, which will be used to mark Hisahito's belongings, was also placed by his side. The boy, Emperor Akihito's first grandson, is third heir to the throne after his uncle, Crown Prince Naruhito, and then his father Prince Akishino. Akishino and his wife, Princess Kiko, have two older daughters, Princess Mako and Princess Kako and Prince Naruhito has one daughter, Princess Aiko. The birth of new royal has forestalled for the time being plans to change the law to allow women to accede to the Chrysanthemum throne.
