Islamic Conference Urges Tourism in Lebanon and Palestine

Mayton - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Beirut, Lebanon (AHN) - The head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference said that Muslim countries should encourage tourism in Lebanon following the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah that devastated the nation. OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu again condemned Israel for the war. Speaking in Baku, Azerbaijan, Ihsanoglu said repeated the claims of most Muslim countries since the ending of hostilities on August 14. "We reiterate our condemnation of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Palestine, which destroyed the economic infrastructure of the two countries, including tourism installations, in addition to killing and injuring thousands of people and creating utter misery and desolation," the Secretary-General told tourism ministers from Islamic countries. "I appeal to all the member states to lend generous support to Lebanon and Palestine in order to allow them to overcome the repercussions of the Israeli aggression," Ihsanoglu added. "The strength of all nations should be united in the fight against terrorism," he said.
