NDI Still Concerned With Political Gridlock In Dhaka
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - The visiting NDI (National Democratic Institute) delegation on Sunday expressed deep concern over the prevailing political situation in Bangladesh. "The NDI delegation recommended dialog between the ruling party and the opposition to resolve the political standoff," Sazeev Wazed Joy, son of Bangladesh Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina, told newsmen after an Awami League delegation had hour-long meeting with the NDI delegation in Dhaka. Awami League leader AMA Muhit said that they expressed their concern to the NDI delegation over the newly updated voters' list alleging that the list include some 14 million false voters that would change the result of the upcoming general election. The two sides exchanged views on how to ensure free and fair parliamentary elections and on the opposition's proposal for electoral reforms, he added.
