Moroccan King Meets With Putin To Discuss Bilateral Ties
Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter (AHN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed bilateral ties while meeting with Moroccan King Mohammed VI in Casablanca. This is the first time a Russian head of state has visited the north African kingdom. The Moroccan royal visited Moscow in 2002. The two leaders signed a series of cooperative agreements during their meeting, and spoke about continuing the friendship between the two nations. After the summit, officials signed agreements on legal affairs, fishing, tourism, culture, information, agriculture, sports, medicine and financial operations. Russia and Morocco also decided to establish a joint commission to encourage bilateral trade and investment. Trade between the two countries increased to $1.5 billion in 2005, from $640 million in 2001. Russia exports crude oil, iron, steel and raw materials to Morocco.
