Kuwaiti Troops Ordered To Fire Back If Attacked By Iraqi Militias
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Kuwait City, Kuwait (AHN) - Kuwaiti security forces were under orders to return fire if "Iraqi insurgents" launch another attack at the Kuwait-Iraq border, reports said. Kuwaiti Interior Ministry has issued the order after suspected Iraqi insurgents staged an ambush at a Kuwaiti border patrol police last Friday. Armed Iraqi gunmen fired at Kuwaiti border police on August 22. There were no reports of casualties in the two incidents, but the Kuwaiti government wants incidents of cross-border attacks to stop and orders its military to defend themselves when fired upon. At the same time, Kuwait has notified the Iraqi charge d' affaires of its "dismay" at recurring violations and attacks at border areas. A statement from the foreign ministry said a formal complaint has been sent to Iraq to explain their side with regard to the "breaches and aggression."
