Olmert Cautioned Against Prisoner Exchange
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - The head of Israel's Terror Victims Association has cautioned Prime Minister Ehud Olmert against paying "any price" for the release of three Israel Defense Forces soldiers in Hamas and Hezbollah captivity. Ha'aretz reported Monday that Meir Indor recently wrote to Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz, reminding them that past releases of jailed terrorists in return for kidnapped Israelis have ended with the freed prisoners killing and abducting even more Jews. Indor attached a list of such victims to his letter. He also noted that freeing hundreds or even thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese security prisoners "will result in more abductions," because "every release increases [the terrorists'] belief that the system works." Hamas-affiliated terrorists abducted IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit just outside the Gaza Strip on June 25. Army reservists Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser were snatched by Hezbollah along Israel's northern border on July 12. All three are said to be alive, but in need of medical attention.
