NATO Aircraft Crashes in Afghanistan
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Kandahar, Afghanistan (AHN) - A NATO aircraft has crashed in southern Afghanistan. The crash happened Saturday, reportedly 12 Royal Air Force personnel were on board and are among the dead. The aircraft was supporting a NATO mission. It went off the radar and crashed in an open area in Kandahar, about 12 miles west of the city. Officials would not say how many people were on board, but that there is no evidence of an enemy attack. The International Security Assistance Force said the plane had reported a technical problem before going down. The British Ministry of Defense is reporting that among the dead are 12 Royal Air Force peronnel. Officials say shortly after the crash, a spokesman for the Taliban assumed repsonsibility for the crash, claiming to have used a stringer missile to shoot down the plane.
