14 Shiite Pilgrims Killed In Iraq
Som Patidar - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Fourteen Shiite pilgrims from South Asian countries India and Pakistan have been killed on their way to the holy city of Karbala, Iraqi police informed Saturday. The pilgrims, including five women, were shot on Friday as they were ambushed by robbers on their way to Karbala. On Saturday, in another incident, a car bomb blasted near a police station of Baghdad, which killed three people and injured sixteen others. According to VOA, the US Defense Department warned that the increasing sectarian violence in Iraq might be creating conditions that could lead to civil war, but that civil war can be avoided if current efforts to reduce the violence succeed.
