Bangladesh To Reopen Mission In Afghanistan Soon
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Bangladesh is going to reopen its mission in Afghanistan very shortly, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh M. Morshed Khan says in Dhaka. "The process is now underway and we will send a team within one or two weeks to select the mission building offered by Afghanistan, which is also a member of SAARC as well," the foreign minister talks newsmen at the Foreign Ministry in the capital. The Bangladesh mission in Kabul was shut down in 1989. The Afghan Foreign Minister who had come to Dhaka to attend the SAARC Council of Ministers meeting here met Bangladesh foreign minister and offered a building for housing the Bangladesh mission. Asked about reopening the Bangladesh mission in Baghdad, Khan said the mission would be reopened considering the safety and security situation in Iraq. Currently, around 600 Bangladeshis have been working in Afghanistan and their performances are quite good both under the UN system and at the private level, diplomatic sources say.
