Six Bangladeshi Peacekeepers Killed In Road Accident In Ivory Coast
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Six Bangladeshi troops working with the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Ivory Coast were killed and 12 soldiers injured seriously in a road accident at Tiasali on way to Abidjan from Yamoussoukro. The accident occurred on Friday as the driver of the vehicle carrying the soldiers "lost control," the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) says in a press statement in Dhaka on Saturday. They had been traveling from the capital, Yamoussoukro, to the main city of Abidjan when the vehicle crashed late Friday, UN spokesman Col. Omar El Khadir was quoted by AP as saying. "It's obviously a very tragic accident," he added. Those killed are Lance Corporal SM Miraz Ahmed (20 Field Regiment Artillery), Lance Corporal M Abdus Sattar (6 Field Regiment Artillery), Sainik Abdul Halim (27 Field Regiment Artillery), Sainik Mohammad Kamruzzaman Khan (36 Air Defence Regiment Artillery), Sainik Mohammad Shahid Mia (32 Field Regiment Artillery) and Sainik M Mizanur Rahman (24 Field Regiment Artillery). The injured soldiers, two of them in critical condition, were admitted to a local hospital in the Ivory Coast, the ISPR statement adds.
