Hizbollah Has Learned A Lesson From War
Joseph S. Mayton - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Beirut, Lebanon (AHN) - Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora told an Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, that he did not expect Hizbollah to drag Lebanon into another war. He also added that a peace deal between Israel and Lebanon was hopeful. "I don't believe it can happen again," the PM said. "I don't think Hizbollah is in the same position where it was before the war and won't be able to repeat what it did," he added. Siniora added that the group had "learned its lesson." In the same newspaper he argued that a peace deal between his country and Israel was a possibility, although he had reservations. "I think that Israel learned from the war that violence isn't the way to ensure wellbeing. The only way to achieve peace is through negotiations. The belligerent statements made by the Israeli government, even if they're meant to quiet internal criticism, do not assist the negotiation track," Siniora added. He also continued to say that Italian troops would be in a friendly not hostile environment in Lebanon when they deploy to aid in the south of the country.
