Report: Syria Readying Guerilla Attacks On Israel

Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A new Syrian guerilla group modeled on Lebanon's Hezbollah is preparing itself to initiate hostilities against the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights in the near future, reported Iranian state-run television Wednesday. In an interview with Al-Alam TV, a man identifying himself as the leader of the new Front for the Liberation of the Golan Heights (FLGH) said hundreds of fighters were currently being trained at several camps set up throughout Syria. Last week WorldNetDaily spoke to a senior member of Syria's ruling Ba'ath Party who said Damascus was "very serious about establishing this new guerilla force." He said that Syria had learned from Hezbollah's perceived victory in its recent conflict with Israel, which ended with the world pressing Jerusalem to meet the terror group's demand regarding the disputed Shebaa Farms area, that violence was more valuable than negotiations in achieving Syria's aims on the Golan. Syria was also encouraged by the ability of several thousand Lebanese guerillas armed with light arms and anti-tank weapons to hold off what is generally regarded as the region's most powerful military.
