France To Study Iranian Nuclear Response
Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Paris, France (AHN) - The French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy has acknowledged that it has received Iran's answer to to incentives that will hope to end the ongoing nuclear standoff. "Yesterday, the response arrived. It is a very long document, very complex, we are going to study it," Douste-Blazy said. "I noticed that certain Iranian officials were saying that they would like to negotiate. We prefer to read it and then, in a few days, with our European, U.S., Russian and Chinese partners say what we think and what we will do to the United Nations Security Council," he added. Iran called for talks as it gave its response to the deal to stop the nuclear standoff. It did not indicate whether demands of the international community were met. Iran's nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani gave the written response to representatives of the five permanent Security Council members plus Germany. The United States said it would mull over Iran's response but noted that only Iran's termination of uranium enrichment would be suitable. The European Union said Iran's "extensive" reply would require careful study. Douste-Blazy cited that the resolution by the Security Council on July 31 "requires Iran to stop all uranium enrichment by August 31" or assume U.N. sanctions.
