Hariri Blasts Israel And Syria
Joseph S. Mayton - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent Beirut, Lebanon (AHN) - Saad Hariri, the son of slain former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri and head of the anti-Syrian bloc in parliament, condemned Syrian President Bashar Al Assad for stirring up strife within Lebanon and the region. He was also virulent against Israel in a speech Thursday. "The speech was an incitement for sedition in Lebanon. The Syrian president has hurt his position, Syria's and Lebanon's," Hariri said, referring to the Syrian leader's speech in which he praised Hizbollah. Hariri, a member of parliament, also said that Israel has a history of "living off the blood" of its neighbors. "The history of Israel is a black history, a hateful one, of destruction," said Hariri, in the speech, which praised the Lebanese army for moving into southern Lebanon. "Israeli attacks can destroy Lebanon (physically) but will not touch Lebanese unity," he added. The speech was a response to Israel's 34-day war with Hizbollah and the Syrian President's Tuesday speech.
