Three Militants Sentenced To Death In Bangladesh Bombing Case
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - A court in Bangladesh on Tuesday awarded the death sentence to three leaders of militant outfit Jama'tul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and sentenced five others to life imprisonment for the group's activity in the August bombings. Laxmipur District and Sessions Judge AK Roy handed down the death penalty to Ataur Rahman Sunny, Masudur Rahman and Amjad Ali. Arifur Rahman, Azharul Islam, Maulana Emranul Atahar, Maulana Ershadullah and Nazrul Islam will serve life in prison. All the militants are members of the outlawed militant group JMB which wants to replace the country's secular legal system with strict Islamic laws. According to the prosecution, the eight JMB leaders were involved in the August 17 series blasts at seven points in the Laxmipur district town last year. They were also charged for bomb attack in the court in October the same year that killed one.
