Violence Continues In Sri Lanka
Som Patidar - All Headline News Staff Writer Colombo, Sri Lanka (AHN) - Pushing Sri Lanka towards civil war, Tamil rebels move forward to the strategically important Jaffna Peninsula despite Norwegian truce monitors asking to stay away. In the worst fighting between rebels and the Sri Lankan army since a 2002 ceasefire, nearly 150 Tamil rebels were killed in fighting in the last 10 hours. According to a NDTV report, nearly 40,000 Sri Lankan soldiers are deployed in the peninsula cut off by rebel territory.Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan government blamed LTTE for pushing the country towards civil war.
