Hezbollah Blames Crisis On Israel
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah Saturday laid all blame for the current Middle East crisis on Israel, insisting accusations that the terror group instigated the fighting by abducting two Israeli soldiers and shelling northern Israel are "nothing but lies." Speaking on Hezbollah's Al-Manar television station, Nasrallah said his group's attacks on Israel, including the July 12 assault during which two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were kidnapped, were all a reaction to what he called "Israeli aggression." Nasrallah made his remarks as the Lebanese government met to discuss and vote on UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities and the deployment of some 30,000 Lebanese and foreign troops to southern Lebanon to keep the peace there. Nasrallah said that despite his reservations regarding the resolution's terms, Hezbollah will abide by the ceasefire if it is approved by Beirut. He was adamant, however, that Hezbollah will not be the first to lay down its arms, and will continue to attack northern Israel so long as the IDF is in Lebanon. Dozens of Hezbollah rockets rained down on northern Israel Saturday, lightly wounding five people.
