India Announces $215 Million Aid For Nepal
Som Patidar - All Headline News Staff Writer Kathmandu, Nepal (AHN) - The Indian government will release the $215 million aid for Nepal in the next few days, Indian envoy to Nepal SS Mukherjee informed on Thursday. The announcement of economic assistance was made as India pledged to Nepal during the visit of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to New Delhi in June. Addressing the business community, Mukherjee said, "India has already started implementing the package and everyone in Nepal needs to ponder over implications of imposing on Nepali people a debt that is already 1 percent of the GDP and may reach 2 percent next year." He also said that India was ready to encourage its private and public sector institutions to partner in hydropower projects, but Nepal should clear its stand.
