Egypt Thwarts Coup By Radical Elements
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Egypt recently thwarted a plot by anti-Israel terrorist elements to overthrow the regime of President Hosni Mubarak, reported The Galil Report. While details of the plot are being withheld, Egyptian officials who spoke to the Galil Report said it was in its "elementary stages" and involved the Muslim Brotherhood opposition group. The Muslim Brotherhood is the parent organization to the Palestinian terror group Hamas, and its leader, Mahdi Akif, has been acting as Hamas' de facto spiritual leader since Israel assassinated Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in 2004. Akif announced this month that his group was planning to train fighters to join Hezbollah and Palestinian terror groups in their fight against Israel. Many Israeli officials fear that the cold peace Israel now has with Egypt will return to open hostilities after Mubarak is gone.
