IDF Captures Southern Lebanon Town
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Thursday captured the southern Lebanon town of Marjayoun with little or no resistance from Hezbollah fighters in the area. A Reuters journalist on the ground reported that by sundown Israeli soldiers could be seen openly moving through the town on foot. A Christian community, Marjayoun lies just five miles north of the Israeli town of Metulla. Most of southern Lebanon's Christians are no friends of Hezbollah, and actively aided the IDF during its 18-year occupation of the area. Marjayoun was in important command center for the Israelis during that time. Israel says it will launch a significantly expanded invasion of southern Lebanon this weekend if the international community fails to produce a diplomatic solution to the Hezbollah threat plaguing northern Israel.
