Update: 40,000 IDF Troops Set To Enter Lebanon
Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Correspondent Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Some 40,000 Israelis soldiers were massed along Israel's northern border Wednesday night, set to join 7,000 of their comrades already operating in southern Lebanon in a major expansion of the war against Hezbollah. Earlier in the day, Israel's security cabinet approved an expanded ground offensive that will see the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conquer southern Lebanon up to the Litani River. A senior military official told the Jerusalem Post that the initial push to the Litani will take the bolstered force approximately one week, while clearing Hezbollah out of the conquered territory will take another month. The bulk of Hezbollah's forces are believed to be deployed south of the Litani, with more than 70 percent of rocket attacks on northern Israel originating from that area.
