Serbia Seeks Justice For Ex-Commander
Nidhi Sharma - All Headline News Staff Writer Belgrade, Serbia (AHN) - Serbia has demanded Bosnia to prosecute a wartime Muslim commander allegedly seen in recently released video footage who ordered the destruction of Serb homes in 1995 in western Bosnia. Bosnian Muslim and Croatian soldiers have been seen in the footage attacking convoys of Serb refugees that flee a Croatian military offensive launched in August 1995 to retake territories from Serb rebels. The footage that was aired this week by local broadcasters, showed Bosnian Muslim and Croatian soldiers harassing and attacking convoys of Serb refugees fleeing a Croatian military offensive launched in August 1995 to retake contested territories from Serb rebels. The AP reports that around 200,000 Serbs fled during that attack which happens to be the biggest single exodus in the Balkan wars of the 1990s. Many of them crossed through parts of western Bosnia in search of safety. More than hundred have reportedly been killed. The video shows soldiers shouting at Serbs, pushing them around and in addition to burning Serb houses, shouting "Burn them all." The footage was first aired by Belgrade-based B92 television and later Serbia's state television aired it. The video has caused outrage among many Serbs, who often accuse the U.N. tribunal of being biased against them. They also say that UN is not willing to investigate cases in which Serbs were the victims. S |
