Cuban Health Minister: Fidel Castro Recovering

Havana, Cuba (AHN) - Cuban Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer informed Friday that President Fidel Castro is recovering well from surgery to curb intestinal bleeding.

Mr. Balaguer says that, "the Cuban regime has received best wishes for Fidel Castro's health from the most remote corners of the world."

The Cuban Catholic Bishops asked the faithful to pray for Castro's health and a declaration, which was made public on Friday, would be read in Churches on Sunday for the early recovery of Castro.

Fidel Castro, the only surviving communist leader of Latin America, temporarily transferred power to his brother Raul on Monday for the first time since his revolutionary win in 1959.
