Two Bombs Injure 17 People In Southern Turkey
Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter Ankara, Turkey (AHN) - Seventeen people are injured, one seriously, when two bombs go off in the southern Turkish city of Adana. Adana police chief Mehmet Cebe tells The Associated Press the first explosion detonated in front of a bank on a busy road in Adana. The second blast went off just minutes later at a construction site some 30 yards away. Eight police officers and two police cadets were injured in the explosion, along with five civilians. Gov. Cahit Kirac says the first bomb was a percussion grenade, which makes a loud noise but causes minor damage. He says the second device was a fragmentation bomb. No one has claimed responsibility for the two explosions. In the past, Kurd separatists and leftist groups have conducted bomb attacks in the area.
