Landslide Kills 10 In Nepal
Siddique Islam - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Kathmandu, Nepal (AHN) - A landslide in a remote mountainous village in northern Rasuwa district of Nepal killed at least 10 people and injured several more on early Thursday. The landslide hit the village around 2 am (Local time) when people were asleep in their homes at Dhurmu village, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of the capital. Details were sketchy and initial reports say 10 people were killed, including five from the same family. A local school was buried by a mudslide. According to reports, soldiers from nearby towns have been sent to the area for rescue efforts, but that the village is accessible only on foot. Landslides are common during the monsoon season in Nepal, which is mostly covered by mountainous terrain.
