Two Bomb Attacks Kill 4 In Southern Thailand
Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter Bangkok, Thailand (AHN) - Four people are killed in two bomb attacks in southern Thailand, a stronghold of Muslim separatists. A bomb hidden along a railroad in Songkhla province killed three Thai policeman who were inspecting the tracks. A fourth officer was injured. Trains from Bangkok to Sungai Kolok were halted as a result of the attack. Authorities estimate repairs will take at least one day. In a separate attack, an army officer is killed when a bomb explodes at a school construction site in Pattani town. The bombings come a day after suspected Islamic militant separatists conducted at least 100 attacks. A resurgence of violence since January 2004 has killed more than 1,500 people in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat - all majority Muslim provinces.
