Iraqi Violence Kills At Least 44, Injures Dozens
Nji Che - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - More than 44 people, including at least 20 soldiers, died on Tuesday as a wave of violence struck Iraq. The soldiers were killed after a roadside bomb hit the bus they were riding in. In a separate incident, in the Iraqi capital, 14 people died after a car bomb exploded near a bank. A police source, who was not authorized to speak to the media, said the military bus transporting 35 Iraqi soldiers was driving through Ruwashyid village near Baghdad at the time of the explosion. He said 20 soldiers were killed and 13 others wounded. The bus was part of a military convoy that was led by U.S. troops. No American casualties were reported in the attack. After the incident, a curfew was reported in the city of Beiji near Ruwashyid village. In another incident, a car bomb blasted during the morning rush hour near a bank in Baghdad. At least 14 people died from the explosion that left another 37 people injured. It appears the attack was aimed at Iraqi security forces as they show up at the bank to receive their salaries on the first day of each month. Another car bomb struck a police patrol unit, killing seven people including a policeman in Muqdadiyah, about 60 miles north of Baghdad.
