Israel Rejects Three-Day Cease-Fire
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Israel rejected a U.N. request Saturday for a three-day cease-fire that would have allowed Lebanese citizens to be evacuated and humanitarian supplies to be delivered. Israeli officials say safe corridors opened across Lebanon are being blocked by Hezbollah guerrillas. More than two weeks of fighting is starting to cause shortages in food and medicine. U.N. humanitarian experts in that area say thousands of children, elderly and disabled are left stranded. The U.S. Navy did manage to bring in some supplies, as well as Egyptian and Jordanian military transport planes, and a fourth plane from the United Arab Emirates.
