U.S. Government Donates Forensic Hardware To Philippines
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Manila, Philippines (AHN) - The Philippines' capability to fight cyber crimes was given a much-needed shot in the arm when the U.S. Embassy in Manila donated sophisticated forensic hardware and software on Friday. U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney personally turned over the equipment worth $155,000 to Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Calderon. In a statement, the PNP said the "highly sophisticated" equipment was received by the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detention Group. The donation consists of forensic towers, mobile forensic laptops, cell and PDA seizure software, sim card seizure and image master software, among others. CIDG Chief Director Jesus Verzosa, said the donation is the second initiative of the U.S. State Department to help the PNP fight cyber terrorism.
