Mortar Bomb Attack Kills At Least 4 At Baghdad Mosque
Nji Che - All Headline News Staff Writer Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - At least four people were killed, and six others wounded on Friday when a mortar bomb hit a mosque in the southern outskirts of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The attack appeared to be a continuation of sectarian violence that has gripped the country over the last several months. The incident, which targeted a Sunni Arab mosque, came after a car bomb and mortar bombs killed at least 27 people in central Baghdad a day earlier. Earlier this week, President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced plans to enhance security forces in Baghdad in an effort to stem the growing violence in the Iraqi capital. Bush told a White House press conference after meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, "Our strategy is to remain on the offense." Bush added that, "Under the prime minister's leadership, coalition and Iraqi leaders are modifying their operational concept to bring greater security to the Iraqi capital."
