Utah Man Confesses To Killing 5-Year-Old Neighbor
Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter Salt Lake City, UT (AHN) - A Utah man faces the death penalty after he confessed to smothering a 5-year-old girl to death, before sexually assaulting her. Prosecutors charged Craig Roger Gregerson, 20, with kidnapping and aggravated murder for the death of Destiny Norton. Police found her body in a plastic storage box in a cellar at Gregerson's home, which is only two doors away from Norton's. She had been missing for eight days. Prosecutor Bob Stott says the 20-year-old suspect will be appointed a defense attorney at his court appearance on Friday. Police searched for the body after Gregerson admitted killing the girl. Stott says he led police to the storage container, which was hidden in a "tight, confined basement with a lot of material down there." Gregerson told investigators that he lured Destiny into his home on July 16. Stott says, "Destiny wanted to leave and became very vocal." Prosecutors say Gregerson covered the girl's mouth and smothered her to death. An autopsy determined Destiny was then sexually assaulted. Stott says he has not decided whether to seek the death penalty.
